The award from the Polish Witold Drabinkowski Biochemical Society and Merck Company for the best doctoral thesis in biochemistry for Anna Wójtowicz-Krawiec; Doctoral thesis: “Biotechnological applications of deubiquitinating proteases”; Tutor prof. Andrzej Płucienniczak; Institute Biotechnology and Antibiotics;

Distinction awarded by the State Committee for Scientific Research (Komitet Badań Naukowych) to the Institute of Biotechnology and Antibiotics headed by Piotr Borowicz, Ph.D. and BIOTON for the development and implementation through into production of recombined human insulin that brings considerable benefits to the state budget.
Environmental Care (“W trosce o naturę”) Certificate no. 20982002 awarded to the Institute of Biotechnology and Antibiotics by Polski System Recyklingu Organizacja Odzysku S.A. (Polish Recycling System Organization).
